Thomas Edison

Thomas Edison was almost deaf, but he did not mind at all. However, his friends wanted to help him and they asked a specialist to examine Edison. The specialist came to see the inventor, examined him carefully and told him of a treatment which he was sure would make him less deaf. The inventor smiled and answered, "No thank you, doctor. I don't want any treatment. You see, I'm afraid of being less deaf. Just think of all the things I'd have to listen to that I don't want to hear!"
